Makin’ cookies

Who said boys can’t cook? Our younger kids today were making cookies as presents for their teachers. To see the huge smiles on their faces as they mixed up the ingredients and watched how it all came together was pure joy! They watched in amazement as the dough was rolled out, cut into shapes and baked in the oven. Of course everyone wanted to taste them to “be sure they were okay to give away.” Today was only part 1 of the project. On Saturday they will ice the cookies and we’ll see who the artists are in the group. It’s the simple things like baking cookies that the kids enjoy the most. Sometimes  those of us who grew up in families forget about those special times in the kitchen learning how do something new like making cookies. These kids never had that “luxury” but today that was changed. You can easily see the happiness on their faces as they worked on making the cookies. Stay tuned for part 2 and of course the all important taste test on Saturday. Have you made your holiday cookies yet? Better start baking!
