Today was a day to remember! We had the wonderful opportunity to present what we do to the parents of many homeschoolers. In Kiev we have what they call “external school” where kids who are homeschooled or kids like ours can go and take their exams and get state credit for school classes. We took 4 of our younger kids and they did a little skit about learning and presented the teachers with the owl cookies they made. They had it all memorized and I sat there just grinning like a proud Momma!

They behaved so well that on the way home I decided to treat them to a cheeseburger from McDonald’s. As we were eating the cheeseburgers in the car on the way back to the Ark, Alla, 9 yrs old, with a huge grin on her face casually said, “wow, this is my 1st cheeseburger!” I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Alla eating her cheeseburger and enjoying every morsel of it. She was thrilled to “finally” get to eat a cheeseburger from Mickey D’s. Just a reminder to me that it’s the simple things in life that bring great joy – things we so often take for granted. Yes, even McDonalds. I look forward to taking Alla to McDonald’s for her birthday and see her get a “Happy Meal.”
